"In his Texas Garden Almanac, Doug Welsh suggests these shade trees for our area-bald cypress, Shumard oak and live oak. Note that live oaks can gorw to well over 60 feet tall and wide. They are best suited to large, expansive sites. Other good choices are Mexican sycamore, Monterrey oak, lace bark elm, Chinese pistache and bur oak."--Charla Anthony, The Eagle
