Christopher McDougall - Running With Sherman:The Donkey with the Heart of a Hero — at Politics and Prose at the Wharf

Upcoming Event
Thursday, November 7, 2019 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

McDougall’s new book, like his bestselling Born to Run, is a moving testament to courage, determination, and the power of running. In this case, though, the heroic qualities belong not only to dedicated people, but to a donkey named Sherman. When McDougall rescued him from an animal  hoarder, Sherman was in bad shape both physically and emotionally, barely able to walk on overgrown hooves. To help him heal, McDougall trained him to run, and, with the help of a coterie of runners, friends, and goat farmers, prepared him for the World Championship Pack Burro race, a Colorado event in which the animals run with humans.
