Politics and Prose is happy to partner with DC Public Library and DC Public Library Foundation for Know Your Power with author Kim Johnson featuring her new book, Invisible Son.
A limited number of complimentary copies of Invisible Son will be available for families to add to their home library courtesy of the DC Public Library Foundation. Copies will be available first come, first serve at the event only, books will not be available for pick up before or after the event on September 27th.
About the book:
Andre Jackson’s return home from juvenile detention is complicated. Gentrification is changing his neighborhood, and COVID-19 has shut down schools. Andre’s suspicions about his arrest for a crime he didn’t commit are affecting his friendships. Nevertheless, he knows he can count on his relationship with the Whitaker kids—especially his longtime crush, Sierra. But Sierra’s brother Eric is missing, and the facts don’t add up. If Andre can find Eric, he just might uncover the truth about his own arrest. But in a world where power is held by a few and Andre is nearly invisible, searching for the truth can be dangerous.
About the Author:
Kim Johnson held leadership positions in social justice organizations as a teen. She has been a college administrator maintaining civic engagement throughout the community while also mentoring Black student activists and leaders. Invisible Son is a follow up to her critically acclaimed debut novel, This Is My America. Kim lives in Maryland with her husband and two kids.
