Marcie Flinchum Atkins - Wait, Rest, Pause: Dormancy in Nature

Upcoming Event
Thursday, October 24, 2019 - 10:30am

How would you behave if you were dormant? That’s the question this book answers using examples of species that exhibit dormancy. Perhaps you are an Arctic ground squirrel packing on fat, becoming as cold as the air and barely moving. Or maybe you’re a chickadee on a winter’s night, slowing your heart to save energy. Sparse, lyrical text paired with captivating photography explores the science behind the many different ways plants and animals wait, rest, and pause. Ages 5-9.

This event is free to attend and open to the public, however, reservations are required for school groups interested in attending. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
