P&P Live! : Michael Arceneaux - I Don't Want to Die Poor: Essays — in conversation with Gillian White

Upcoming Event
Wednesday, April 15, 2020 - 7:00pm

This event will be streamed online as part of our P&P Live! Series.

Arceneaux follows his bestselling essays on growing up in a Black, working-class Catholic family, I Can’t Date Jesus, with an equally honest, illuminating—and funny—collection of writings on his struggle with student debt. Expanding on his February 2018 New York Times piece, “The Student Loan Serenity Prayer,” Arceneaux gives a vivid account of what it’s like to live with constant economic anxiety. Feeling the weight of the debt on all parts of his life—from dating and medical care to considering other life choices—Arceneaux explores both the financial and emotional cost of pursuing his dreams. Arceneaux will be in conversation with Gillian White, deputy editor of TheAtlantic.com
