P&P Live! Poetry Panel with Eduardo Corral

Upcoming Event
Friday, October 23, 2020 - 6:00pm

This poetry panel will explore themes like violence, race, culture, and writing about the personal and political at once.

Panelists include:

Eduardo Corral is the author of Slow Lightning, plus his newest collection, Guillotine, which was long-listed for the 2020 National Book Award. Told through the voices of undocumented immigrants, border patrol agents, and scorned lovers, the collection traverses desert landscapes cut through by migrants, the grief of loss, betrayal’s lingering scars, the border itself—great distances in which violence and yearning find roots.

Maya C. Popa is a Romanian-American poet and the author of two chapbooks, The Bees Have Been Canceled and You Always Wished the Animals Would Leave. Her latest collection, American Faith, begins the manifestation of violence in our country: a destructive administration, a history of cruelty and extermination, and a love of firearms. The kind of violence naturally extends to the personal.

Tommye Blount is a Cave Canem alumnus and author most recently of Fantasia for the Man in Blue. In his debut collection, Tommye Blount orchestrates a chorus of distinct, unforgettable voices that speak to the experience of the Black, queer body as a site of desire and violence.
