This Could Hurt by Jillian Medoff is a perfect novel to escape into the world of corporate America and the lives of those who make their careers there. The story takes you inside the HR department of Ellery Consumer Research in Manhattan, run by a 64 year old tough-as-nails executive, Rosa Guerrero, who is fiercely loyal to her employees.  The people in her department disappoint, dismay and sometimes surprise her as their lives intersect in and out of the office.  There are office crushes and friendships forged.  Sharp and funny, it’s a novel with a lot of heart.

With a wife and five children, he converted to Catholicism after watching The Exorcist. Her OCD mother is known for wearing a Danger Face, her hatred of nuns and her kindness. Patricia and her husband move in with them after health issues derail their plans and she starts writing.  Her observations are hilarious and her writing is stunning and poetic.
